Coverking became operational in 1986 and the company was founded by an Electrical Engineer who was engaged in the Aerospace Defense industry in Southern California. At that time, the car cover industry was very basic and used to practice relatively backward and cut-and-sew custom methods. With Coverking, everything started to change. Having worked for decades with the most advanced and sophisticated defense weapons systems, the acquired knowledge and experience was brought in to modernize the car cover industry and also show the customers what they were missing out on.

With the innovative approach and business principles of Coverking, the company began to grow and started to purchase other automotive companies, and some of them were even dated back to 1974.

CAD and CAM systems were used to make sure that the final result was accurate and precise to ensure that the levels of pattern quality were better than the industry standards. Automation ensured that Coverking was able to increase efficiencies and enhance output to previously unattained levels. And the result was something that fit better, took less time to make and was cheaper too. The industry was changed forever.

To do this, advanced CAD/CAM systems originally meant for the aerospace industry was purchased and it was applied for the Custom Dash Covers. During those days it took 30 days to make Custom Dash Covers, but Coverking brought this down to just 1 day. The production time of the custom, one-off product was reduced drastically. Coverking believes in innovation and also using the latest technologies and this is how the company kept benefiting.

Coverking started applying the same theories in their other lines like the Custom Floor Mats, Custom Car Covers, Custom Seat Covers and Custom Sunshields. And here too, the company kept raising the industry standards and consequently, raising the market share. And this one key factor that has made Coverking a leading brand in outdoor and indoor custom car covers, seat covers, dash covers, floor mats, sunshield and other auto accessories.
